Cape Lambert Village "B"

Problem

Cape Lambert Village “B” needed treatment for 1,200 equivalent persons – 372 kL/day – against a treated effluent specification of total phosphorus below 1 mg/L and total nitrogen below 10 mg/L.

Solution

A packaged plant sized to 1,200 EP was built and fully factory-tested before shipment. Site construction ran 20 days from mobilisation to commissioning. The plant was commissioned on influent sewage and seeded from the adjacent Cape Lambert Village “A” plant, an existing WWS plant already in service.

Outcome

The process was producing compliant final effluent within seven days of commissioning.

Nammuldi Village

Problem

Nammuldi Village required a 1,600 EP plant – approximately 496 kL/day.

Solution

The plant was a modular SBR process.

Outcome

The process was producing high quality compliant final effluent within 72 hours of commissioning.

West Angelas #1 Upgrade

Problem

West Angelas Village Plant 1 was commissioned in August 2006 at 450 EP, approximately 140 kL/day. As the village grew the plant needed to be expanded.

Solution

WWS expanded the existing plant by converting the process to a membrane bio reactor. The scope covered the design calculations, drawings, manuals and all components and labour to carry out the upgrade.

Outcome

The plant doubled in rated capacity and continues to operate. The MBR process lifts final effluent to “A grade” quality, which can be re-used for landscape reticulation.

Port Haven Village

Problem

Port Haven Accommodation Village at Port Hedland required 1,600 EP of treatment capacity – approximately 560 kL/day.

Solution

The plant was a modular SBR process.

Outcome

The process was producing compliant final effluent within 30 days. The plant was commissioned in October 2009 and remains in operation.

Finucane Island

Problem

Port Hedland Inner Harbour’s Finucane Island facility needed 88 kL/day of treatment for a “non-accommodation” waste water stream. These streams carry proportionally high influent nitrogen, and erratic curves.

Solution

The plant was designed specifically to address the high influent nitrogen and sporadic loading associated with non-accommodation applications.

Outcome

Very low and sporadic loading extended the time needed for the system biology to fully develop, but the plant was fully compliant within 40 days of commissioning and remains in operation.

Pannawonica Town

Problem

Pannawonica is a Pilbara townsite: 1,000 EP, 310 kL/day, with the load profile of a small town and no neighbouring network.

Solution

The plant was a modular SBR process.

Outcome

The process was producing compliant final effluent within 30 days. The plant was commissioned in April 2006 and remains in operation.
